The Dolphins and I, we are one.

Last weekend, the boyf and I cashed in our Christmas voucher from my mum. A true swim with wild dolphins experience was on offer, but there was no guarantee that dolphins would be there to play. After five hours sleep we dragged our sleepy selves out of bed at half six, to a beautiful still ocean front with the sun creeping up over the horizon. And lucky we were. Not only did we see wild dolphins, and swim with wild dolphins, but we saw the playful resident bottle nose dolphins too!

It was really quite an odd experience, you dress up in a wetsuit, with a snorkel and then you pin drop into the ocean while holding onto a guide rope attached to the boat. You then have to be “one with the ocean” and remain streamline, not splashing too much (which would scare the dolphins away), try to breathe and make dolphin squeals all whilst the boat is moving along.  The more noise you make the more dolphins are intrigued and the more they interact and play with you! In total, I had about 16 dolphins swimming under, beside and over me in the 5 mins I was in the water! A true once-in-a-lifetime experience!
